This series will be based on the work of Krista Tippett who hosts the public radio broadcast, On Being with Krista Tippett. Her show explores such spiritual questions as what does it mean to be human, how do we want to live and who will we be to each other? The series will be discussion based and will not require any preparation ahead of meeting.
The group is currently discussing "The Calling of Delight: Gangs, Service and Kinship."
A Jesuit priest famous for his gang intervention programs in Los Angeles,
Fr. Greg Boyle makes winsome connections between service and delight, and compassion and awe. He heads Homeboy Industries, which employs former gang members in a constellation of businesses. This is not work of helping, he says, but of finding kinship. The point of Christian service, as he lives it, is about "our common calling to delight in one another."
Adult education programs begin at 11:15 after fellowship and refreshments. It lasts approximately one hour and consists of various topics related to the Bible, Christian faith and witnessing the word to the world. Discussion is encouraged to allow participants to share their thoughts and beliefs to further their journey of faith.
Children of all ages are welcome. We have a special sermon during worship after which the children leave the sanctuary for Children's Worship and Wonder (CW&W).
So What Exactly is CW&W?
CW&W is faith formation worship centered approach with storytelling, ritual, and fellowship that is used with children in churches to help them deepen their relationship with God.
Just Believers is a small group that meets weekly for Bible study and prayer. All are welcome. Please contact the church for meeting location and time.
